you wish you were here

I thought that attending my parent's sunday school christmas party would be kind of a drag, but it turns out that these geriatrics really can bring the funny out. The white elephant gift exchange was especially wild, and not just for the fish.

We've established that Dad wound up with Mom's gift

She was laughing so hard she could barely protest
Nancy got some sequined butterflies

and Hank was pleased with his head-lamp camo cap

the Cruz's landed some toilet paper

I got a gun-hiding Beth Moore devotion book

you know... a gun-hiding Beth Moore devotion book

...and Bill scored some jingle balls.

Right. On to the song:

It was great.

  2. Okay, get ready people...I'm gonna be sentimental.

When I read this post I think of what happened to my family 5 years ago. Here's the thing...the best day at Island Community Church didn't come close.

Watching my father have the freedom to be his wonderful goofy self and the joy on my mother's face brings tears to my eyes. The world dealt us a harsh hand, but PRAISE GOD! He had BETTER plans.

It makes me think of 1 Corinthians 2:9 "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."

Remember the dream you had Dad? When you saw Jesus at the foot of your bed? Remember the first time we went to Sarasota Baptist mom?

    What a faithful God.

Thank-you Sarasota Baptist Church for the way you've blessed my family.

Okay, I'm done now. Bethany! Stop rolling your eyes :)

  3. Oh my goodness.. Megan said it all and that applies to Bill and me as well. One of the absolute biggest blessings in our lives this year is becoming friends with Donna and Rod - and our amazing community group. A lot of healing is all around us. Thank you Jesus... I love you guys! Belinda
